The Longleaf Drive West Phase project represents one of the more comprehensive transportation improvements funded by your penny in recent years — and one of the most recently completed. Following a Project Development and Environmental (PD&E) study to evaluate alignment and easement options, construction began in November 2022 and reached final completion in January 2026. The project included:

  • Roadway widening and realignment to improve traffic flow through the corridor

  • Drainage improvements to address longstanding stormwater needs

  • Construction of a new bridge to support the improved roadway connection

Improvements like this can take years of purposeful planning and investment to deliver a safer, more reliable corridor for the communities it serves.
